St Barnabas Episcopal Church | Westchester County

I have been a parishioner for almost 10 years, and this is a wonderful place for one's spiritual growth. Very welcoming, family oriented, with many outreach activities, and rich social life. The sanctuary is beautiful and fully climatized. I think that at St Barnabas everybody can find their own place that feels right and comfortable.

Earlier this year, the Church of St. Barnabas painted its doors red, symbolizing a place for spiritual healing that welcomes all. But, in my opinion, its doors have always drawn parishioners to its sanctuary for prayer with a strong sense of community. My husband and I and two kids have considered this church a warm, welcoming, and accepting place for all worshippers for 25 years now. My daughter enjoyed growing up in the church community and attending Youth Group events like Midnight Run and a choir competition in Washington, D.C. My son, who is autistic, was a ready-and-willing participant in St. B.'s pre-COVID "Rhythms of Grace" sessions open to the disabled population. Over the years, my husband and I have volunteered hours as Youth Group leaders, Hospitality Committee members, Clothing Sale workers, Altar Guild, and members of the vestry. The Church of St. Barnabas feels like home.

I started working as the Youth Director for this church in February (in a joint venture with the Presbyterian Church next door) and have found everyone in this community to be wonderful, friendly, welcoming and incredibly helpful. They are doing really wonderful community outreach on a regular basis, and really encapsulate what a small suburban parish is supposed to feel like. If you're looking for a church, give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

You feel a warm and welcoming spirit the minute you walk into Church of St. Barnabas. The church is active in supporting the community and there are lots of meaningful ways to get involved. You can attend services in person or online.

St. Barnabas, a charming stone church with gorgeous historic stained-glass windows, is a Rivertown gem. The space is an exceptionally beautiful place to worship, but it’s the people who make St. B’s a warm, welcoming, fun community. The church is active with ministries ranging from the annual clothing sale, which brings visitors from far and wide, to Midnight Run, to a thriving youth group. The sermons are deeply rooted in scripture and history, always uplifting, timely, and thought-provoking. I’m happy to call St. B’s my spiritual home. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!
