Dr. William D. Long III, M.D.

Dr. Long is my "miracle worker". He gave me back my quality of life that I had not had for over ten years - I am no longer in pain!!! I wish I had gone to him earlier (had two previous surgeries which did absolutely nothing for me). I work full-time and can honestly say this surgery has changed my life for the better!! I have been a patient of Dr. Long for over 4 years. In 2018, I suffered an injury at work resulting in a very large herniation at L4/L5. I was unable to move my right leg more than 2 inches in front of me without having debilitating pain down my leg and in my lower back. I was sent to Dr. Long after over a month of Workman’s Comp having me jump through hoops. Once I met Dr. Long I knew I was in great hands. Dr. Long took a look at my MRI results and ultimately knew that I needed to have a surgery but did not push that on me. He started with a dose of oral steroids to help decrease the swelling of the nerves and reduce the radiating pain I was in. After two rounds of steroids we came to the conclusion that my herniation at L4/L5 was too large to heal on its own (the disc was triple herniated) and we discussed surgery. I had a successful Microdisectomy with Laminectomy at L4/L5 and I was back to work in about 4 months. I was able to resume my active lifestyle of regularly playing golf, hiking, swimming and most importantly working as a police officer.

In July of 2022, I went to stand up and was immediately brought to my knees in intense pain. I tried to find a comfortable position but was unable to. The next morning I contacted Dr. Long’s office and tried to schedule an appointment. Dr. Long had switched practices and they made me a priority even though I had not been seen by him at this new practice. Within minutes, they put me in touch with Dr. Long on the phone and he immediately prescribed me oral steroids to try and get me relief until my appointment in a few days. Unfortunately, the same level that Dr. Long fixed had herniated again. Dr. Long discussed my options, again not being pushy to have surgery. I ultimately required a spinal fusion at L4/L5. In September of 2022 Dr. Long performed a successful fusion of my levels. The radiating nerve pain has been resolved and I am currently working on rehabbing to get back to work.

I have been a long time patient of Dr. Long’s and have recommended him to friends and family. My father saw Dr. Long and had a successful surgery from him and my brother is currently under his care as well. If you have any back issues, I strongly urge you to contact Dr. Long and speak with him. He is a lifesaver and will do everything in his power to make you better.

Dr. Long is awesome. He kept me informed every step of the way. He never made me feel pressured into having the procedure and erased any doubt or worry that I may have had. He gave me the liberty to reaching out to him via email any time I had a question and was swift with responding. Surgery went well. Feeling much better and would definitely recommend.

For 10 years I’ve been dealing with a pinched nerve along with L4 L5 issues. The pain management treatment no longer provided relief.

I would recommend Dr. Long to anyone experiencing any type of pain relating to the back. He was patient and explained each step of what needed to be done to myself and my husband.
