The self defense style Is very practical. The school offers a lot Individual teaching. 6 years ago , I had a stroke. The left side of my body was compromised. I couldn’t get out of the way of attack easily because I couldn’t run. I first entered the Silverback program for people limited mobility. After a few months I entered the adult program. I surprise myself. Now I can fall safely , strike and block attacks. I am more ready in case there is a confrontation and protect my family. I learned a lot in short time.

I wanted a program that would teach my boys real world self defense tactics, not another karate place around the corner that does the same thing as the next. This program is the best and exactly what I was looking for. My boys are growing stronger and more confident with each class. They LOVE this program and the amazing team.They incorporate discipline and team work and motivate them to do their best while teaching them how to defend themselves in the real world, today's world. I have been in the Modern Warrior Wolverinz program for five years and since then it helped change my life. It helped me become more confident and I learned how to work with others. They also teach you how to deal with bullies and when people make fun of you and how to react. We also learn practical self defense. Phil also teaches us how to work together as a team. I look forward to my training every week and I appreciate all they have done for me.

Specializing in training for self defense. The tactics are some of the best you will find in any self defense school. This is not a school for everyone. If you are serious about learning self defense for the street, you will have a hard time finding a better school. If you can pass a Masters test at this school you are definitely well, well beyond the average first degree black belt in terms of being able to defend yourself or your loved ones in a street fight against multiple armed attackers. Short term courses from 1 day to 8 weeks that teach the core system or delve deeply into a specific aspects of our self defense system are also available. I have been doing this for over 20 years and have practiced with many black belts of different systems. This is one of the best practical self defense systems available today.

I am in my late 30s and have studied other martial arts systems throughout my adulthood, some for as long as nine years and none for less than two years. It wasn't until I came to Modern Warrior three and a half years ago that I finally believed I could defend myself in a real world attack. The practical self defense created and taught by Phil Messina is unlike anything I have ever experienced. I trust in it so much that my wife, daughter and mother in law all train there as well. Additionally, the sense of community among the students of the school is refreshing and also nothing I experienced previously. The kids classes don't just teach self defense, but teach the kids how to be good citizens and leaders. I cannot say enough about Modern Warrior and it's staff and I urge anyone truly interested in learning how to defend themselves in today's world to stop in and see what it is all about.
