(July 4, 2023, 9:25 am)This park in Merrick, NY offers a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts, with its well-maintained trails spanning 3 miles, perfect for walking or running. The small parking lot makes it convenient for visitors to access the park easily. The highlight of the park is its highest point, which provides panoramic views of Long Island and Manhattan.
One of the park's charms is its diverse wildlife. We spotted various bird species, and adorable bunnies. Unfortunately, we missed the foxes and goats.
For those interested in fishing, the park also offers a pier that extends into the water, providing an excellent spot for anglers. Additionally, along the trails, you'll find exercise workstations, allowing visitors to incorporate fitness into their outdoor experience.
Overall, The Norman J Levy Park & Preserve is a wonderful destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering picturesque views, wildlife encounters, and a range of activities such as walking, running, fishing, and exercise. It's a great place to unwind, enjoy nature, and stay active. -

(June 13, 2023, 7:18 am)Great lil place to do a run or walk on softer gravel like surface with many path options. Goats are right at the beginning of the path usually but you cannot feed them. Nice to see for lil ones. The bathroom is right at the beginning too. Peaceful place

(June 2, 2023, 2:45 pm)Certainly nice to have an outdoor preserve and place to kayak especially with the rapid decline in outdoor open space on Long Island. That being said, the bees here are plentiful! Tons of wood bees near the launching dock for kayaking so be prepared. The preserve it seems also knocked down some hawks nest which is a no go. Waking trails always have people on them which is nice just remember to CLEAN UP YOUR TRASH.
