I highly recommend working with Derek and his team. He helped me overcome a 20-year knee injury from competitive running that no other PT has been able to address. I thought I would never comfortably run again, but he came up with a plan for me to slowly build patellar tendon strength and regain confidence in my knee. Hoping to avoid surgery, I sought Derek Mansfield's care for a painful impingement in the rotator cuff. In about three months' time, he helped me expand my strength and range of comfortable motion to the point where that's now possible for me. I had an excellent experience working with Derek in his practice and I would highly recommend working with him. I was referred to him by a friend to help with pre-hab and re-hab for a shoulder reconstruction. Derek's great relationship with my surgeon and experience in working with elite athletes shone through when putting together my program. The sessions were all one-on-one. We were able to objectively measure my progress and speed up / slow down my program when needed. When I first met Derek I hadn’t run in over a year due to knee and hip trouble (including a torn labrum). A stint with a different PT had failed as had my past attempts to return to running. I was resigned that distance running (or any running) was out of reach. Derek was incredible. From the outset his positivity and confidence rubbed off. He assured me that I would be up and running again. His approach was comprehensive and he tailored exercises throughout the time I worked with him to match how my hip and knee were feeling and progressing. Derek is easy to converse with and his explanations are thorough, easy to understand, and he always has additional resources readily available. He also makes himself available via text or call as questions arise during the rehab process. I progressed much faster than I had expected/hoped. I went from feeling pain all of the time to running with no pain. And in the end he sent me off on my own with confidence to add mileage (5+ miles and building) and a long term plan and tools to continue building strength to ensure that I would return to distance running only once.
