I have to write this review simply because I am more than pleased with Valley's service. I have also read the other reviews, all 56 of them at the time of this writing, and found most of them not knowing what they are actually reviewing. What are you reviewing? The product? The service? The people in the yard? The customer experience? Be specific!! I am a repeat customer. At first, I found that the customer service appeared to be harsh. Let me describe harsh for you: They are direct. What do you want? How many do you want? Do you know what color? Those are the direct questions you will need to ask of yourself and then be ready with the answer. This is a "Supply" company. They supply what you need. The responsibility is on you to know what you need. They are not there to do that for you. Not that they won't, but that may not their primary goal at the time.
A few years ago I did my front porch, driveway, walkway and stoop. I knew absolutely nothing about mason work or stone work. I Googled endlessly and learned. I showed up one morning and was intimidated by the rapid fire conversation between the staff and contractors who were there. But I stood quietly and listened. I learned their lingo, I learned their terminology, and I read whatever material were available while waiting. When my turn came I stuttered my question because I am a home owner and not a contractor. Steve pointedly said, "I can help you but you will have to wait until I get these guys (contractors) out first." I was delighted to wait. When the lull in activity arrived I bellied up to the counter again and was guided through the process. Steve, recalculated my estimate based on knowledge of the business and told me all I needed to know about stone and masonry then told me to walk around the yard, see what I want and come back with any questions. I did! Best time spent.
A few weeks ago, I went back to Valley because I am now doing my backyard. Would you believe Steve remembered me by name WITH MY MASK ON!!!!
Here is my suggestion for all who did not ask for it. Know what you want, at least in concept. He even gave me multiple samples to take home and "test out." They will make suggestions but the final decision is yours. Google as much as you want to know, have your numbers ready, make multiple trips if you are not sure of the material you want. Don't buy on impulse, your purchase IS written in STONE!! When you are satisfied go and talk to them after 10am, when it gets a bit slower.
If you can't do any of that or won't do any of that, then hire a contractor to do it for you. Let me add, knowing I was not a contractor, Steve visited my job site without being asked to, just to see how my work was coming along!!!! And just for the record... I did visit at least three other supply places before settling on Valley.
Always remember, the answer you get depends on the question you asked!!

We are planning to re-due our driveway and called to get some information, they were very helpful and even gave me some good ideas over the phone. Can't wait to stop by and speak to Steve!
