Very cute park/old army base that is not too crowded. Plenty of green, peaceful surroundings as well as some century old buildings. Great view of Throgs Neck bridge .
Definitely worth a visit if you want to see a less popular and less crowded park.
I love walking through the homes, and streets feel like I am walking to a small town upstate. Views are fantastic, very hilly.
An eclectic and historical place to visit. The history of this place is amazing. Oldest graffiti in the tunnel passage as well as signatures from military dating way way back. Some cool little treasures in and on the walls. Like the ammunition tests in the walls! Shown in photos
We usually trek to Brooklyn Bridge Park or LIC on days when it's warm enough to want to be near the water but not in the water. This is a great alternative with beautiful views, history and plenty of space. There isn't much shade but there was a nice breeze along the water. Huge parking lot but it fills up fast so get there early or be prepared to wait and jockey for a spot on weekends.
Fort Totten is rich with History. You can see it in the architecture if you choose to explore this park. After a 4 mile run I took the opportunity to visit the site and enjoyed every step of the way. The grounds were well manicured and the Spring tulips and other flowers were in perfect bloom.
I had a Fantastic visit and plan to return with my family.
