Absolute compliments to the chef and staff. The food was delicious and the servers were great. We were very happy to spend an anniversary dinner here.

We can easily see why Minka is the go-to and favorite restaurant of some of our friends. The food is authentic and each part of the meal was very tasty.

The Chicken wings were crispy and tasty, and the Angus skewers were a perfect way to start.

The highlight of the meal was the Short Rib. It was braised for 5 hours, really juicy, flavorful, and tender.

You can tell there's a lot of work put into each dish, so table turnover is low. A reservation is strongly recommended as they only seat enough parties to make sure meal quality isn't sacrificed. Great restaurant. We look forward to coming back and trying more menu items.

What a wonderful experience! They really pay attention to the details at Minka.

I’ve been saving Minka in my back pocket for a special occasion and it was my husband’s birthday, so it was the perfect opportunity to try it. I was able to easily make reservations via Resy for a Thursday at 6 pm. We ordered a bunch of things to share:

-Botan Ebi & Uni (sweet spotted prawns, uni, shiso aguachile, yuzu, shiso oil) - I’m not usually a fan of shiso but I didn’t mind it here. It was a very unique app. I’ve never eaten such a huge piece of ebi before. The aguachile and the little finger limes made it a refreshing dish

-Tuna sashimi special (akame with chives, medium fatty toro with shaved truffle, otoro with uni) - the fish melted in my mouth, even the akame. The truffle didn’t really do anything for me. My favorite was of course the otoro with uni

-Truffle Tuna Toro Don (bluefin chutoro sashimi, truffle soy, shaved black truffles) - this was good but looking back, I wish we had ordered something different; only because it’s basically 1/3 of the flavors from the sashimi special but in donburi form. If I could redo, I probably would have ordered the salmon ikura. However, I did like /appreciate that they didn’t just plop some fish on top of plain sushi rice. Instead, they mix it up with really tiny bits of chopped up oshinko (that yellow Japanese pickle), which really elevated the dish

-Wagyu Steak Donburi (washugyu beef, onsen egg, seared mushroom, black truffle, wagyu beef fat rice) - honestly, we were a bit on the fence with this one because it was $48 but the wagyu beef fat rice really sold us. It was definitely worth the price tag because they actually give you a lot of steak. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly, to a slight crisp. My husband loves these and even said he liked it better than the truffle. Mixing the perfectly cooked onsen egg into the dish was *chefs kiss*. It brought everything together.

Service was just great. We found out it was BYOB, so my husband went next door to grab a bottle of white. They stuck it in the freezer for us for a few minutes and then brought it out in an ice bucket. We also met the owner, Alex, who was super nice. He mentioned that the restaurant had only been open for about a year and a half (as of April 2023). At the end of the meal, (since I had mentioned on Resy we were celebrating a birthday), they brought out a complimentary slice of matcha cheesecake with torched Hokkaido sugar, which was the perfect ending to the meal.

Their brunch menu looks interesting (and a tad more wallet-friendly), so I’d definitely be interested in checking that out one day soon.

I really enjoyed my experience at Minka - the ambiance is classy and low-key, it'd be a perfect spot for a date night or for small family gatherings. The restaurant itself is small to medium in size, there seemed to be only 1 waitress on staff with 1 chef in the kitchen. The waitress seated us very quickly and let us know the wait may be a little long as everyone arrived just before we did, and mentioned to us it's BYOB and there is a liquor store very close by if we were in the mood for drinks.

We ordered 5 dishes, 4 small shareable plates with 1 main dish, the ingredients were very high quality and treated with care. Even the simple seasonal tomato was delicious and I am not one to appreciate tomatoes much. The chicken skewer, tofu & fish cheeks were all delicious. The star of the show was 100% the Wagyu Donburi - it's a beautiful bed of Wagyu, paired with a poached egg with Japanese mushrooms with a bit of truffle shaved on top. The meat was extremely tender, juicy and full of flavor and the pairing was simply a heavenly bite.

This place is definitely a 5/5, can't wait to come back again to try more items on their menu!

Edit: Photos are from their 1st year anniversary dinner. Incredible food and happy anniversary!

I am glad I found this Japanese restaurant; you don't need to visit NYC for quality izakaya-style Japanese food anymore(BYOB for now). I ordered a few small plates and two big plates. They were all excellent. The price for each dish is on the higher side, but you get fresh and quality food. The inside decor was minimal yet stylish, and the staff was friendly. This restaurant is an excellent addition to the area.

We had the BEST time stopping in for dinner! The best way to describe is fine dining ethics combined with simple shareable dishes. Servers are so knowledgeable, hospitable and committed to helping you enjoy a meal here as an experience. The chef clearly cares deeply about the ingredients, preparation, and presentation of the dishes. This place is all about homey and simple dishes executed extremely well and with creative finishes and we were so blown away by the quality. So so fantastic make sure you get a reservation in advance, if you get turned away from walk in it is because you underestimated the popularity of the restaurant. Some dishes are seasonal so we will be back!!!
