US District Court

I was at the courthouse for jury duty recently. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The staff are incredibly friendly, cheerful and patient. I'm sure that dealing with a bunch of clueless strangers, day in and day out, has its challenges, and yet, every single staff member that I had the pleasure of interacting with gave me the impression that their greatest pleasure was to assist me in any way possible. I'm giving the staff five stars, and the only reason for this rating is that six or more stars aren't possible.
However! Future potential jurors, take note: When showing up to jury duty, bring along the biggest, fattest book that you possess. Steal one if you have to. (Just kidding!) Court hours are 8:30 to 5:00, and the amount of time you'll spend waiting around for something to happen is simply unbelievable. Unless you enjoy going batty from boredom, bring along books! Lots of them!
Jury duty was a fascinating experience, and I'm hoping to get called again in the future.

Thank you to our justice system for employing such wonderful staff. Right from entering and dealing with security to the wonderful tone set in the court rooms by the 2 judges I had sat in during jury selection for 2 civil trials. If only the politicians could function under the rule of law we would have a better state. It would be great of the court system to offer daily parking passes vs having to submit parking fees for reimbursement we would be one step closer. The ride was long, 125 miles per day. I have served and look forward to being part of the justice system again one day, but not to soon ;) - Mike
