#Manhattan Korean Catholic Church

When I came to Manhattan on a business trip, I usually stayed in hotels located between 45th and 60th Streets. So on Sundays, when I can afford to be away from my customers for a while, I head to St. St. Patrick's Cathedral. It's such a big cathedral that no matter where I sit, no one knows who I am and when I go to that place, the main character of Die Had comes to mind before the Lord.

New York after a long time. This time, since the lodging was lower than Midtown, I had made up my mind to go to the Korean church on 31st Street, just three blocks away.

Church of St. Francis of Assisi.
It looks like a small church from the outside, but it's quite large once you step inside. Perhaps because it is an old building, even though it is a stone floor, the floor vibrates slightly with footsteps passing by.

As the name of the church suggests, you can see the priests wearing the habit of the Minor Brothers. The Korean priest who is in charge of Korean ministry is also a member of the Minor Brothers.
On the right wall of the cathedral, which has a very splendid decoration on the front of the altar, there is also Father Andrea Kim Dae-geon.

A pipe organ found in most old foreign cathedrals. The sound of the choir is loud and beautiful, probably because there are many good music schools in Manhattan. Thanks to the echo resonating inside the temple, the sound feels finer.

Most of the people in the front seats were elderly, but there were many families with children in the back seats. Three boys in white shirts come into view. All three of them look cuter with shaggy hair, probably because they were dragged by their parents as soon as they woke up on Sunday morning.

Because it is a small community, there are many friendly scenes. As is usually the case with Korean church communities overseas, the priest greets and claps for the first-time visitors or those who have moved in, and calls all the believers who are celebrating a holiday this month to the front, and the priest blesses them one by one.
It was a Sunday morning mass that fully felt the joy of coming to an unfamiliar place and calmly massing.
