Peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of New York City.
Beautiful interiors with stained glasses and various statues on the sides. The must see would be the front of church above the Altar.
Electronic candles can be lighted up at various points
Daily Mass and every Thursday after 12pm and 530pm Mass, there is Sacrament of Anointing. This is also available for caregivers and those accompanying the sick.
You may also receive it on behalf of somebody who is unwell.
Peaceful place to pray and be away of your own in one of the busiest place on earth. Nice art , detailed and nicely put together when you look closely in this arts. There is remains of WTC too in this church. Went there to give thanks for a memorable experience in this lovely city!
I am a christian who usually attends non denomination church, but came for a midnight service during Christmas and it was the most divine service! it was below 0degrees because of the snow storm and they said it was more quiet than how last year was. Other church service made it online but we were glad the snowstorm did not stop them from doing a mass.
Unpretentious and thoughtful, the choir feels like broadway and brought tears to our eyes, the message was clear and a great reminder of how we need to focus on him above all, the interior is spectacular and we had a chat with one of the pastor who shared that they serve warm food to the homeless. He was patient, loving and almost made me want to serve in that church (If only I live here)
They made it clear that they welcome everyone despite what you are going through, your color, background, gay or straight. I also thiught their christmas poster of what Joseph and Mary would look like in current days on NYC to be intriguing and beautiful.
My aunt introduced my to this church, and the friars, when I was a child. One of the friars actually baptized me, though at a different parish in the Lower East Side. This is also perhaps my favorite church in Manhattan, along with St. Vincent Ferrer. Beautiful art, and beautiful architecture. I do miss the original bookshop and giftshop, but you can still purchase spiritually inspiring books and gifts upstairs today. Definitely a church to visit when in NYC.
What a lovely experience praying and worshiping Christ this morning in New York City. There is the main church upstairs and the shrine below. Stunningly beautiful- a proper way to give honor to Our Lord.
