Roosevelt Museum at Old Orchard

Museum is free. To tour house you must order tickets online. For an American history or TR enthusiast it is a must see. TR was a disrupter and was made VP to get him " out of the way " when McKinley was assassinated, much to the dismay of the " swamp " the almost insanely popular TR became President and changed the direction of history.

Wow, they have a great exhibit about Teddy Roosevelt's life and accomplishments that is well presented in these 3 rooms. Thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit in this historic building. I also highly recommend the walking trail behind the building that takes you down to the harbor, it is beautiful. It's a wonderful place to spend about 2 hours to thoroughly go through the exhibit and another 1.5 hours on the trail to enjoy the beach and the bridge was and get some nice pictures

A thoughtful history of a man who, himself said he had lived the life of ten men. Several excellent artifacts presented with solid interpretation. An excellent museum shop provides plenty of souvenir options as well.

Very charming. Even on a chilly day. We didn't go inside the museum itself. We trotted along the trail until the lake. The view of the water was worth it. Especially at sunset.

A self guiding tour with objects from the life of Theodore Roosevelt. Very informative and interesting. I was very fortunate to see Theodore Roosevelt’s metal of Honor on a visit. The metal now is in Washington D.C.. If you a hiker there is a downward trail leading to a nature preserve with a nice bridge walk. Located behind this house. At trails end you will discover another reason why Theodore loved this location A beautiful shoreline with stunning views of Cold Spring Harbor. It is best to walk to the Old Orchard museum from the main house because it has limited parking. There is also a short movie on Theodore’s life. This museum is a great compliment to the Sagamore Hill National Park. It is very kid friendly. There are restrooms. And places to sit. A full immersion in Theodore Roosevelt’s life.
