When my grandmother passed away suddenly a few weeks ago, my family was devastated and mildly in shock. January 2017 my family was hit with some devastating news that we needed to make final arrangements for my mother. My mother and father live in Plainview and there is literally a funeral home down the block from my parents home. My dad went to their main office in Hicksville and he felt as if they were doing him a favor by letting him do business with them. So my dad asked if I would go with him to Arthur F. White Funeral Home in Bethpage. The main office is in Farmingdale. My dad said, “From the moment we walked in the door it just felt different”. We were greeted at the door by a former employee that my dad had worked with for over 20 years. His name is Gary Forry. He knew my mom by her first name and he expressed his sympathies to my dad. After that we met with a young woman named Jayme Elia. My dad said right out of the box, Jayme was different. She went slow, took her time with us and eased us through the process step by step. We knew right then and there this is the place we wanted to do business with. When the day came and my mom had passed the person who answered the phone said, “We are so sorry, we are going to send someone right away”. About fifteen minutes later she called me back and said, “They are on the way”. Jayme herself and funeral director Stephen Mahoney were the ones to show up to my parents house. They had taken my mother from her room where she passed as if they were taking their own mother.
We had our funeral services at the Bethpage location. The facility was well kept, very clean and nothing was stained or tattered. At the front door was Gary Forry and Natalie Parsons that greeted everyone with a smile and a welcome. The two of them checked with myself and family from time to time to see if we needed anything. The day of the funeral arrived and it was time to go to the church. Stephen Mahoney, Jerry Romanelli, and Bob Sager got us there seamlessly. They let us carry her into the church and they were there for us the whole time. I would just like to end with this, at a difficult time everyone at Arthur F.
